Poland is this year’s Guest of Honour for the 2018 Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF), April 25- May 1, 2018 at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.

A wide range of authors, intellectuals and artists will discuss Poland’s rich literary and cultural traditions. Over a thousand years of Polish culture, with particular focus on the last hundred years of Poland’s independence, will be reflected in presentations on the golden classics of Polish literature and works by Polish Nobel prize laureates, as well as discussions of works by the contemporary writers invited to participate in the ADIBF.

The professional program will include an in-depth presentation of the Polish book market and panels featuring experts on translation and rights management. Events addressed to children will feature esteemed Polish artists and educators.

A presentation by Polish chefs will be accompanied by discussions of the history of Polish cuisine, while a panel on new technologies will be featured alongside discussions of the history of Polish art, music (including the legacy of Chopin and Szymanowski) and cinema. In short, the program will offer insight into both Poland’s past and its current dynamic development.

Canon to host a ‘Future Book Forum’ event at Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2018

In honour of the ‘Year of Zayed’, this year’s 28th edition of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair will host an additional event which will explore how publishers could grow in the future, through innovative approaches in a rapidly-changing and demanding world.

Enabled and organized by Canon, the ‘Future Book Forum’, will be held on April 28 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center and is set to bring the whole industry together from publishers, to printers, to retailers and readers.

Tackling new developments in both digital and printed books, the forum also addresses how they increasingly interact, the ways in which content can be used in multiple ways, the new trends and technologies to enable this, emerging business models to improve profitability, as well as new opportunities for growth.

In addition, the ‘Future Book Forum’ will also host a workshop which will address the seamless integration of print production and book distribution, automated book manufacturing workflows as well as business opportunities for “Smart Book Services”.

With many related case studies on the agenda and a chance for attendees to experience a live demonstration of a real workflow, this is an event you do not want to miss out on.
