All the juries at the 58th Antalya Filmfestival

In a written statement, the Mayor of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Muhittin Böcek announced the National Feature Competition Jury. This year, the National Feature Film Competition will be presided over by: director, producer, scriptwriter, and academic Emin Alper, director of photography Ahmet Sesigürgil; writer and scriptwriter Ayfer Tunç; singer, lyricist, composer and producer Gaye Su Akyol; actress Hazal Kaya; theatre director, instructor, and actor Muhammet Uzuner; producer, director, and scriptwriter Senem Tüzen.

Emin Alper’s debut feature “Beyond the Hill” (Tepenin Ardı) won the Caligari Award in Berlin Film Festival. His second film “Frenzy” (Abluka) was awarded Special Jury Prize in Venice Film Festival. His latest feature “Three Sisters” (Kız Kardeşler) was screened globally in national and international film festivals, and was selected for the competition in Berlin Film Festival, and won many awards. Alper recently made a television debut with “Alef”, which received critical acclaim for its direction and scenario. Having achieved worldwide success as a filmmaker in a short time, Emin Alper is also an accomplished scriptwriter, producer, and academic. Alper will act as the head of the jury for the National Feature Film Competition.

Other jury members that will evaluate the 10 premiering films in the competition are as follows: Ahmet Sesigürgil, who studied cinematography and filmmaking at Central St. Martins University of the Arts London, New York Film Academy, and Maine Photographic Workshops, and who worked as the director of photography for many films, including “Consequences” (Silsile), “Lemonade” (Limonata), “Four Cornered Triangle” (Dört Köşeli Üçgen), “Comidark Films” (Karakomik Filmler), and television series, including “Atiye”, “Alef” and “Method” (Metot); novelist Ayfer Tunç, whose books “The Night of the Green Fairy” (Yeşil Peri Gecesi), “Dünya Ağrısı”, and “Osman” have reached many readers, and who adapted Sait Faik short stories to “Cloud in the Sky” (Havada Bulut) and Orhan Kemal novel “72. Koğuş” (The Prisoners), and whose work has been translated into more than 20 languages; the singer, songwriter, composer and producer Gaye Su Akyol, whose debut album “Develerle Yaşıyorum”, first international album “Hologram İmparatorluğu”, and latest album “İstikrarlı Hayal Hakikattir” have obtained huge success, and who has become the first Turkish musician to be featured on the cover of the British magazine Songlines; the successful actress Hazal Kaya, who debuted in television series “Genco” and received critical acclaim with her part in groundbreaking series “Forbidden Love” (Aşk-ı Memnu), and who built a successful career on television with titles such as “Adını Feriha Koydum”, “Maral” and on film with “Our Story” (Bizim Hikaye), “Çalgı Çengi”, “Let This Be Last One” (Bu Son Olsun), “Let’s Sin” (İtirazım Var) and “The Bank of Broken Hearts” (Kırık Kalpler Bankası); award-winning actor, theatre director, and instructor Muhammet Uzuner, who founded the Theatre Workshop at Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, and continued a successful career in Istanbul with plays such as “Şerefe Hatıralar”, “The Merchant of Venice” (Venedik Taciri), “Oh My Smyrna, My Beautiful İzmir” (Ah Smyrnam Güzel İzmirim), and films such as “Halef”, “Stone” (Taş), “Mold” (Küf), “Once Upon a Time in Anatolia” (Bir Zamanlar Anadolu’da) and director, scriptwriter, and producer Senem Tüzen, whose debut feature film “Motherland” (Ana Yurdu) premiered in the 72nd Venice Film Festival’s Critics Week, journeyed widely in national and international festivals, and received many awards by Adana, Ankara, and SIYAD juries.

The 58th Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival is chaired by Muhittin Böcek, the Mayor of Antalya, and executive directed, by Cansel Tuncer. Ahmet Boyacıoğlu resumes the role of Festival director and Başak Emre of artistic director, while Müge Özen and Pınar Evrenosoğlu takes the helm of the Antalya Film Forum.
